Snacking has become a part of our daily routine. We often reach for snacks with saturated fat, sodium, and added sugars, such as chips or cookies. While these foods can fit into a healthy eating plan, they may leave you hungry and not satisfied. If you snack on the right kind of food, you can increase your satiety as well as get a variety of nutrients. Studies show that snacking on whole foods containing protein, fiber, and whole grains such as nuts, low-fat yogurt, and popcorn may enhance satisfaction. So the next time you snack, try to choose foods from various food groups.1
