Ingredients
- 1-inch piece fresh ginger
- ½ gallon apple cider
- 15 cinnamon sticks, divided
- 5 whole cloves (or ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves)
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ⅛ teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 (0.5 oz) package star anise, divided (optional)
- 1 (14 oz) bag mixed apple slices
Steps
- Peel and slice ginger; place in large saucepan. Stir in cider, 3 cinnamon sticks, cloves, nutmeg, allspice, and 1 star anise (if using).
- Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and remove cover; simmer 5 minutes.
- Place in cups and garnish with remaining cinnamon sticks, apple slices, and star anise (if using). Serve hot.
