Ingredients
- ⅓ cup chunky blue cheese dressing
- 1 cup tri-pepper mix (diced fresh green, red, and yellow bell peppers)
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ground red pepper
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- Cooking spray
- 2 whole wheat hamburger buns (or pitas)
- Tomato slices (optional for serving)
- Lettuce (optional for serving)
Steps
- Preheat grill (or grill pan) on medium-high. Combine dressing and tri-pepper mix; chill relish until ready to use.
- Place turkey in medium mixing bowl. Add garlic powder, red pepper, salt, and sugar; mix until well blended. Form into 2 burger patties; coat with spray (wash hands).
- Grill burgers 5–6 minutes on each side until 165°F. Place burgers on bottom halves of buns, top with relish, and crown with top halves of buns. Serve with lettuce and tomato slices, if using.
Other Preparation Methods
- Quesadillas: Heat large, nonstick sauté pan on medium-high 2–3 minutes. Add 1 lb ground turkey and 1 tablespoon steak seasoning (wash hands). Cook 4–5 minutes, stirring to crumble meat, until no pink remains and turkey is 165°F. Drain, then place meat in medium bowl. Add 1 cup cheddar cheese sauce, ¼ cup drained dill pickle relish, and ½ cup diced fresh sweet onions; toss to coat. Divide mixture among 4 large flour tortillas; fold in half. Return pan to heat on medium; add 1 tablespoon each butter and canola oil. Cook quesadillas (in batches, if needed) 2–3 minutes on each side until tortillas are golden and filling is hot, adding more butter and oil if needed.
