Salted Caramel Popcorn Cones

Ingredients
  • 2 cups salted pretzel sticks, divided
  • 12 cups Deli popped popcorn
  • 1 (2.5 oz) bag red apple chips
  • 1 (2.5 oz) bag green apple chips
  • ½ cup pecan pieces
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 12 large waffle cones (or bowls)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt, divided
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup light corn syrup
Steps
  1. Chop 1 cup pretzel sticks coarsely. Combine in large bowl: remaining 1 cup pretzel sticks, chopped pretzels, popcorn, red and green apple chips, and pecans; stir to blend.
  2. Place chocolate in microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on HIGH in 30 second intervals, stirring between intervals, until melted and smooth. Dip each cone rim into chocolate then sprinkle with a pinch of salt; insert cone into popcorn mixture, dipped rim up, for chocolate to cool and set. Repeat with remaining cones.
  3. Combine in small saucepan: butter, sugar, corn syrup, and remaining 1 teaspoon salt until blended. Bring to a boil on medium, stirring constantly, until butter and sugar are melted. Boil 4 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. Remove cones from popcorn mixture. Pour caramel mixture over popcorn mixture and stir to coat evenly. Let cool slightly, then fill each cone with popcorn mixture; serve.
