Ingredients
- 1 ½ oz light rum
- ½ oz lime juice
- ½ oz triple sec
- ¼ oz simple syrup
- ¼ oz amaretto
- ¾ oz dark rum
- Lime wedge (optional for garnish)
- Pineapple spear (optional for garnish)
Steps
- Fill cocktail shaker with ice; add light rum, lime juice, triple sec, simple syrup, and amaretto.
- Shake well; strain into an ice-filled rocks glass.
- Float dark rum on top. Garnish with lime and pineapple, if desired.
Other Preparation Methods
Make it a Planters Punch.
Substitute orange juice for the triple sec and add a splash or two of grenadine.
Make it a melon Mai Tai.
Add all ingredients (except garnishes) plus ½ cup diced watermelon to blender. Blend on high until no chunks remain; pour into an ice-filled highball or Collins glass; add garnishes.
