Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 8 oz presliced white mushrooms
- 2 cups mini pepper rings
- 1 cup fresh prediced tomatoes
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ cup spreadable butter
- 1 loaf Publix Bakery White Mountain Bread, sliced ½-inch thick
- 8 oz Gruyere cheese, sliced
Steps
- Preheat large sauté pan on medium-high 2–3 minutes. Add oil, mushrooms, and peppers; cook and stir 4–5 minutes or until peppers have softened. Remove from heat; stir in tomatoes, salt, pepper, and seasoning.
- Preheat large, nonstick sauté pan on medium-low 2–3 minutes. Spread butter on one side of each bread slice, then place butter-side down in pan. Top with cheese, vegetable mixture, and bread slice. Cook 2–3 minutes on each side, or until golden and cheese is melted.
Other Preparation Methods
- Sauté: Brush 1-inch-thick sliced bread with sweetened condensed milk, then coat well with beaten egg. Cook 2–3 minutes in a preheated nonstick pan with butter. Drizzle with berry syrup.
- Snack: Cut bread into 1-inch-thick cubes. Toss in melted butter, then in cinnamon sugar. Bake 7–8 minutes or until crisp. Toss again in cinnamon sugar.
