Ingredients
- 2 ripe Hass avocados
- 2 limes, for juice
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- 1 medium tomato
- ½ small red onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro
Steps
- Halve avocados and scoop flesh into medium bowl, discarding pits. Juice limes (2 tablespoons). Add lime juice, salt, and pepper to bowl. Mash with fork until desired texture.
- Chop tomato (½ cup), onion (⅓ cup), and garlic finely. Chop cilantro coarsely. Stir tomatoes, onions, garlic, and cilantro into avocado mixture. Chill 30 minutes; serve. (Makes about 3 cups.)
Other Preparation Methods
- Bake: Preheat oven to 400°F. Halve 1 ripe Hass avocado; scoop out flesh and cut into 8 wedges. Coat with 1 tablespoon oil and ¼ teaspoon each salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper. Arrange in baking dish and bake 20–25 minutes until edges are golden. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice.
- Sauce: Halve 2 ripe Hass avocados and scoop flesh into food processor bowl; add 1 tablespoon lime juice, 1 ½ bunches fresh cilantro, ¼ cup sour cream, and ½ teaspoon complete seasoning. Process until smooth. Serve over cooked chicken, beef, or pork.
