Cranberry Relish

Ingredients

  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • 1 navel orange, for peel/juice
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • ⅛ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Steps

    1. Rinse and pick through cranberries. Slice 1 long piece peel from orange, then juice (½ cup).
    2. Combine in medium saucepan: cranberries, orange peel and juice, sugar, water, salt, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a simmer on medium, stirring frequently; cook 10 minutes until all (or most) cranberries have popped. Remove pan from heat and let stand 30 minutes to cool. Remove cinnamon stick, cover, and chill until ready to serve.
    Chef's Tip: Planning ahead? The relish can be made in advance and refrigerated in an airtight container up to 3 days.
