Cheese-Stuffed Jalapeño-Sausage Poppers
10 servings
1 hour, 15 minutes total (Active 20 minutes)

Ingredients

  • Nonstick aluminum foil
  • 10 (3-inch) fresh jalapeño peppers
  • 5 cheddar cheese sticks
  • 20 oz fresh mild Italian sausages
  • 10 slices bacon
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (+ additional, optional for serving)

Steps

    1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheet with foil. Cut tops off of peppers; remove inner membranes and seeds carefully (with a small spoon). Halve cheese sticks. Place 1 cheese stick half into each pepper.
    2. Remove sausages from casings and divide each sausage in half. Form 1 sausage half around each pepper, coating completely, then wrap each with 1 slice bacon. Place poppers seam-side down on baking sheet (wash hands). Bake 30 minutes.
    3. Increase heat to 425°F. Brush poppers with barbecue sauce. Bake 8–10 more minutes until bacon is crisp and sausage is 165°F. Let stand to cool 10 minutes before serving. Serve with additional barbecue sauce for dipping, if desired.
