Berry Jam
16 servings
4 hours total (Active 20 minutes)

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon, for juice
  • 6 cups fresh (or frozen) mixed berries (blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Steps

    1. Juice lemon (1 tablespoon). Combine all ingredients in large saucepan and stir until coated. Let stand 30 minutes to macerate.
    2. Bring mixture to a boil on medium, then reduce heat to medium-low; simmer and stir 15–18 minutes until sauce is thick and berries have broken down. For a more spreadable jam, smash berries with back of spoon while stirring.
    3. Remove from heat and let stand uncovered 1 hour to cool completely. Place jam in airtight container and chill 2 hours before serving. Store refrigerated up to one week. (Makes about 2 cups.)

Chef's Tip: Spread on warm biscuits, dollop over ice cream, or use to baste grilled chicken.
