Berry-Black Pepper Sauce

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup water
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ pint fresh blackberries or raspberries (5–6 oz)
  • 1 jar blackberry or raspberry preserves (10–13 oz)
  • 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper

Steps

    1. Combine in medium saucepan, water, sugar, and berries; bring to a boil on medium-high. Reduce heat to simmer; cook 5 minutes.
    2. Stir in preserves and pepper until preserves dissolve; remove from heat.
    3. Serve sauce over chicken, pork, beef, lamb, or even salmon.
