Barbecue Chicken Party Ring
16 servings
45 minutes total (Active 15 minutes)

Ingredients

  • 1 chilled Deli oven-roasted chicken
  • 1 small red onion
  • ½ cup mild banana pepper rings
  • Nonstick aluminum foil
  • 2 (8 oz) cans refrigerated crescent rolls
  • ⅓ cup smoky barbecue sauce (plus more for serving)
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 8 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon everything bagel seasoning (or kosher salt)

Steps

    1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Shred chicken (white meat only; about 2 cups). Slice onion thinly (½ cup); drain peppers. Line baking sheet with foil. Separate and unroll each crescent roll. Arrange dough on baking sheet in a circle (sunburst pattern), starting with the wider end of each dough triangle and overlapping edges slightly.
    2. Combine in bowl: chicken, barbecue sauce, and pepper flakes (if using); toss to coat evenly. Sprinkle one-half of cheese in even layer on overlapping edges of dough, then top evenly with chicken mixture, onions, peppers, and remaining half cheese.
    3. Fold pointed end of dough over and around filling (leaving gaps where filling is visible) to form a ring. Melt butter and brush over ring, then sprinkle with seasoning. Bake 20–22 minutes or until dough is golden and filling is hot. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with additional barbecue sauce.
