Ingredients
- 3 oz thinly sliced prosciutto (4 slices)
- 1 large Honeycrisp (or Fuji) apple
- 16 teaspoons crumbled blue cheese
- 8 teaspoons chopped walnuts
- 8 small, fresh sage leaves
- ½ teaspoon pepper
Steps
- Cut prosciutto slices in half lengthwise. Core apple, then cut into 8 (¼-inch-thick) slices.
- Top each apple slice with 1 slice prosciutto, 2 teaspoons blue cheese, 1 teaspoon walnuts, and 1 sage leaf; sprinkle pepper evenly over apple bites. Serve.
Other Preparation Methods
- Slow Cooker: Peel and core 4 large Honeycrisp apples, then cut into 1-inch cubes. Toss with ⅔ cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, and 1 tablespoon apple pie spice. Spread mixture in buttered slow cooker crock; top with ¼ cup melted unsalted butter. Cover and cook on LOW 6–8 hours, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 225°F; line baking sheet with nonstick aluminum foil. Core 1 large Honeycrisp apple, then slice very thinly. Toss with 2 teaspoons granulated sugar and ½ teaspoon cinnamon. Arrange slices in single layer on baking sheet. Bake 2–2 ½ hours until dried. Apple slices will crisp as they cool.
