Stovetop Instructions: Bring water to a boil in medium saucepot on medium-high. Stir 1 cup rice into boiling water and cover. Reduce heat to lowest setting; simmer 20 minutes. Remove pot from heat and let stand 5 minutes or until liquid has been absorbed and rice is tender. Microwave Instructions: Place 2 cups water and 1 cup rice in medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave (Microwave ovens vary; adjust time as needed) on high for 5 minutes or until boiling, then microwave on medium (50% power) for 15 more minutes. Remove from microwave and let stand 5 minutes or until liquid has been absorbed and rice is tender. Note: Add 1 tablespoon butter and 1 teaspoon salt per cup of rice added to boiling water, if desired. 1 cup uncooked rice makes 3 cups cooked rice. Boil rice in broth or stock for added flavor. Serve as a side with you favorite entree and vegetable. substitute rice for pasta with your favorite pasta sauce.
