Stovetop Instructions: Bring water to a boil in saucepot on medium-high. Stir rice into boiling water and cover. Reduce heat to lowest setting; simmer 15-18 minutes. Remove pot from heat and let stand 5 minutes or until liquid has been absorbed and rice is tender. Note: Add 1 tablespoon butter and 1 teaspoon salt per cup of rice added to boiling water, if desired. Microwave Instructions: Place 1-3/4 cups water and 1 cup rice in medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave (Microwave ovens vary; adjust time as needed) on high for 5 minutes or until boiling, then microwave on medium (50% power) for 10 more minutes. Remove from microwave and let stand 5 minutes or until liquid has been absorbed and rice is tender. Note: It is not recommended to cook more than 1 cup rice at a time in microwave; use stovetop instructions instead. Do not add butter or salt until after rice has been cooked.
