Health Screenings
When it comes to your health, some times what you don't know can hurt you. This is why Publix Pharmacy offers a variety of health screenings to help identify those who may be at risk for certain illnesses. Publix Pharmacy offers screenings for cholesterol, osteoporosis, and blood pressure.
High cholesterol. You can't feel it, see it or hear it. But when your cholesterol sneaks up above a desirable level, it puts you at an increased risk for a heart attack and other heart diseases. Several things can increase your risk for developing high cholesterol including a high fat and cholesterol diet, lack of physical activity and smoking. Additional risk factors may be age, other medical conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure and family history.
Stop by or call your neighborhood Publix Pharmacy and ask if this service is available there. Or you can click below to see if they offer this service. If so, make an appointment with the pharmacist to find out if your cholesterol level is healthy. The screening takes less than five minutes, and your Publix pharmacist will also assess your risk for heart disease and provide you with valuable information you can use to help lower your risk.
Publix Pharmacy offers the following Cholesterol Screenings at select locations:
- Total Lipid Profile: fasting screening (Total Cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Triglycerides, and glucose) $20
- Total Cholesterol & HDL: non-fasting screening $15

Osteoporosis is a condition when your bones lose strength and become fragile. It's a "silent" disease meaning you often don't feel it, see it or hear it. But if left untreated, osteoporosis can greatly increase your chance of breaking a bone. Several factors can increase your risk of osteoporosis. These factors can be broken down into controllable and uncontrollable factors. Controllable factors may include low calcium intake, lack of physical activity and smoking. Uncontrollable factors include age, being female and family history.
To find if you're at risk for osteoporosis, a simple bone density screening can help determine your risk. Stop by or call your local Publix Pharmacy and ask when the service will be available in your area or click above to see the schedule of osteoporosis screening clinics. Appointments are recommended. During this screening, your Publix Pharmacist will also assess your risk for osteoporosis and provide you with valuable information to help you maintain healthy bones.
Blood Pressure Screening
High blood pressure is another illness that is often not felt, and if left untreated it can lead to strokes and heart attacks. Factors that increase your risk for heart disease include obesity, smoking, physical inactivity, age and family history.
All Publix Pharmacies offer free blood pressure screenings using automated machines. We encourage you to talk with your Publix Pharmacist about your blood pressure readings. Your Publix Pharmacist can also assess your risk for heart disease and provide you with valuable information to help maintain a healthy lifestyle.
