Publix Nutrition Facts It’s better for you. (The items and the shopping.)
We think you’ll love our Nutrition Facts tags. Why? Because they make shopping a whole lot simpler. Anywhere you see one, you can rest assured we’ve compared the nutrition facts and ingredients of not only that product, but all products like it. That way, you can know at a glance which one is best for you and your family. And easily shop for—and manage—conditions that you or someone you know has, like diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and heart disease.
Definitions at a Glance Publix nutritional tags provide information on the nutrients in a food product. Nutrient criteria for these shelf tags are based on FDA labeling criteria and the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
Dietary Guidelines For Americans, 2005*
The Dietary Guidelines are based on scientific research and endorsed by the U.S. Government. These guidelines are intended for healthy adults and children age two and older.
A healthy eating plan is one that:
- Emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains and fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products
- Includes lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs and nuts
- Is low in saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, salt (sodium) and added sugars
In addition, the Guidelines also recommend that you complement your healthy diet with other healthy lifestyle habits. Try to be physically active each day. If you drink alcoholic beverages, do so in moderation. And aim to maintain a healthy weight. A smart diet and exercise plan will reduce your risk for certain chronic diseases such as osteoporosis, certain types of cancer, heart disease, diabetes and stroke and help you look and feel your best.
