Celebrate your budding dinosaur enthusiast’s love for pterodactyls, triceratops and tyrannosaurus rexes with a roaring birthday bash.

Set the stage for the prehistoric party with themed invitations—­­look for dinosaur stationery or create your own dino footprint-shape invites. Welcome guests to your “cave,” decorated with large potted plants and rocks. To save money, substitute green crepe paper for plants.

Enlist guests’ help in creating decorations too—set out large pieces of butcher paper, markers and crayons, and let them draw their favorite dinosaurs and cavemen. Be sure to play plenty of Mesozoic-era music—try tunes from The Flintstones, The Land Before Time and Jurassic Park.

Entertain dinosaur hunters with prehistoric games such as Feed the Dinosaur. And before they leave, send your pint-size paleontologists on an excavation dig, where they discover prehistoric party favors and bone up on dinosaur fun facts.

For a dino-mite dining experience, label the food you’re serving with dinosaur-inspired names (for example, “bronto burgers” and “dino dogs.”) And don’t forget to order a dinosaur-theme decorated cake from your Publix Bakery.
