Q: What is Publix's mission statement?
A: Our mission at Publix is to be the premier quality food retailer in the world. To that end we commit to be:

Q: How can I purchase Publix stock?
A: Publix is a privately held corporation and stock is only made available to Publix employees.

Q: What does Publix Super Markets Charities support?
A: Publix Super Markets Charities has long focused on youth and education. The foundation is channeled toward nonprofit agencies with a special emphasis on United Way and its representative agencies. However, the foundation also supports many other efforts in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee. For more details on Publix's charitable giving, read about our community involvement.

Q: How can I make a grant request to Publix Super Markets Charities?
A: Please send your request in writing and include the following: information on the organization, a copy of the 501 C (3) determination letter issued by the Internal Revenue Service, a brief budget and a list of the organization's Board of Directors.

If you are working on a particular project, let us know the total cost of the project, the total amount of money pledged toward the project, the amount requested and what support you have received from other organizations within your community.

Please also include whether any deadlines are applicable. It usually takes 6-8 weeks to process a request, and the foundation board meets monthly.

Send your request to:

Q: How old do you have to be to work at a Publix store?
A: Federal and state laws regulate the employment of minors. These laws specifically regulate the hours that individuals under the age of 18 may work, the occupations in which they may be employed and the hazardous equipment and/or materials from which they are restricted. Publix only accepts applications from job seekers who are at least 14 years old. However, not all of our stores hire minors due to the positions and shifts available at each location.

Q: What positions can a minor apply for?
A: If you are 14 or 15, you could be considered for Front Service Clerk ("bagger"), Cashier or Floral Clerk. If you are 16 or 17, you could be considered for those positions, as well as for eight others: Bakery Clerk, Demonstrator, Dairy Clerk, Frozen Food Clerk, Housewares Clerk, Grocery Clerk, Produce Clerk or Health & Beauty Care Clerk. See our Job Description Chart for more details.

Q: How do I apply?
A: Go to the store where you want to work and look for the Job Application Center. Use the computer to provide Publix with your information. (Most applicants complete this process in less than 20 minutes.) Nearby Publix stores may also see your application, so if you are called for an interview, please make sure you know where to go for the interview.

Q: How do I know what positions are available at a specific store?
A: Each Publix location has different needs. When you apply at the Job Application Center inside the store, a flyer above the computer monitor indicates the positions available at that store. Remember that other stores may view your application, and hiring needs can change quickly within stores, so don't be discouraged if the position you want isn't listed. Apply for all of the jobs you are interested in.

Q: If I am interested in a position in one of your stores, where do I send my resume?
A: We do not process resumes for non-management store positions. All applications for our stores must be completed in person at the store of your choice.

Q: Will I be called after submitting an application?
A: Only applicants who are chosen for interviews are called. Store Managers wish they could call every applicant and thank him or her for considering Publix during a job search. However, the number of applications we receive makes that impossible.

Q: How long is my application active?
A: For 30 days. If you don't hear anything within the first month after you apply, we encourage you to return to the store to update your application, which will make it active for another 30 days.

Q: Can I update my application at any time?
A: Yes. You don’t need to wait 30 days to do so.

Q: What is Publix' environmental policy?
A: Publix is committed to preserving and improving our environment. Our goal is to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible. The cornerstone of our corporate conservation program, which has been called "Get into a Green Routine" since 2002, really began with our cardboard recycling program in the early 1970s. Our "Green Routine" program has been so successful, we were awarded the Council for Sustainable Florida large business award in 2007. Also, we are a partner company in the Environmental Protection Agency's "Energy Star" and "GreenChill" programs.

Q: Where is the corporate office located?
A: Our address is 3300 Publix Corporate Parkway, Lakeland, FL 33811. Please note that Publix Corporate Parkway is also known as Airport Boulevard.

Q: I received a check that appears to be from Publix, and the letter that came with it says I won a lottery or was chosen to be a mystery shopper.  Is this a genuine check?
