Publix Issues Voluntary Recall on Ice Cream Containing Peanut Butter

LAKELAND, Fla., Jan. 31, 2009 — Publix Super Markets is issuing a voluntary recall for two varieties of ice cream products containing peanut butter.  The products contain peanut products that are from Peanut Corporation of America, which has been implicated in a national outbreak of Salmonella.   The recalled products include all lot codes for the following items:

    Publix Monkey Business Ice Cream, ½ gallon           UPC:  41415- 29443
    Publix Peanut Butter Goo Goo Ice Cream, ½ gallon   UPC:  41415-28843

 “As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted product has been removed from all store shelves,” said Maria Brous, Publix director of media and community relations. “Consumers who have purchased the product in question may return the product to their local store for a full refund. Publix customers with additional questions may call our Consumer Relations department at 1-800-242-1227.”
