Vaccine Shortage Impacts Publix Flu Shot Program

LAKELAND, Fla., Nov. 1, 2005 - Due to a shortage in flu vaccine, flu shot clinics scheduled at Publix locations will be cancelled after Sunday, Nov. 6. Clinics scheduled through the remainder of this week may have a limited number of flu shots available.

"We apologize for any inconvenience to our customers, but the overwhelming demand and reduced vaccine production by one of the nation's major vaccine manufacturers has forced us to end our program early," said Media and Community Relations Director Maria Brous.

Individuals should direct flu and vaccine questions to their primary care physician or contact local and state health authorities for additional information.
