A NEW MILLENNIUM

Apron’s Simple Meal Centers rolls out to all stores, and Publix opens five Apron’s Cooking Schools. Publix introduces Pix convenience stores, over 70 liquor stores, three Hispanic-themed Sabor stores, three Publix GreenWise Market natural food stores, and purchases Crispers, a Florida restaurant chain.

One of FORTUNE magazine's "100 Best Companies To Work For" 12 years in a row, Publix retains its number-one ranking among supermarkets for customer satisfaction from the University of Michigan, continues as a BusinessWeek Top 25 Customer Service champ, and wins the Council for Sustainable Florida's energy reduction award for large businesses.

Todd Jones becomes Publix's sixth president. In 2005, Publix celebrates its 75th anniversary and opens store 1,000 in 2009.
